Time to dive into the application reflector. Read all about it on your own computer.

Servers speed and service all depend on your own network, your isp, your country’s policy (port blocking) and the servers around you.

As a result we have now several aliases to get the best servers out there.

If one alias does not work to update then use another one. Until you have no more issues.

alias mirror="sudo reflector -f 30 -l 30 --number 10 --verbose --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist"
alias mirrord="sudo reflector --latest 50 --number 20 --sort delay --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist"
alias mirrors="sudo reflector --latest 50 --number 20 --sort score --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist"
alias mirrora="sudo reflector --latest 50 --number 20 --sort age --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist"

Reflector got a recent update to version 2020.12.7-1.

We compare this version against the older version 2020.9-2.

We have to wait considerably longer now with the new version. That was our conclusion.

We wait for a new version from the developer and in the meantime we downgrade reflector with

sudo downgrade reflector
